Project Reflection
In this project the Shakespeare project we took a Shakespearean play and turned it into a shadow puppet production. The director’s cut the script the sound team recorded, the art team made the puppets and the sets and the stage crew set it all up. I was part of the sound team and I did the music for during the play too. Lyle was the other sound man and he did most of the editing on the computer. We both did the recording then he pieced it all together.
I connected to this project in the sense that, I have a big passion for music and sound and any way that a can connect that in my work is great. So when I was working on it I really wanted to put all the effort I could into my work because as a musician I want the things I produce to be satisfactory. The thing I liked the most was being able to work on my favorite thing and getting a grade for it, again if there is any way I can connect my school to my favorite things to do I will be happy.
This project was difficult for me because I had done recording before with a professional but never by myself so in way it was a whole new experience for me. I knew the fundamentals of how to do it but the nitty gritty stuff was new to me. When we I was making the small soundtrack I had to persevere through it. Because I was having trouble figuring out what to do but I worked through it and put together a nice little sound track for the play.
I learned that I can collaborate with another person one on one very well but not in big groups. When I work with someone one on one it’s easier for me I can interact with them well and I can get things done. But when I work in large groups I get upset because nothing ever gets done and people never work with each other.
The reasons I believe that people still celebrate Shakespeare and love his works because they are interesting and entertaining. But beyond that it is a look back in time in many ways and understands some of the culture from Elizabethan England. Before this project I knew nothing about that time period and it has taught me so much. Shakespeare’s works bring magic into the real world and makes you see things in a different way Shakespeare was a truly wonderful writer.
