La Che y Receta Proyecto
For this project students were given an option to either create a recipe from Cuban cuisine, translate the recipe into a Spanish forma, or alternatively we could investigate the life of Che Guevara and create a small art piece and speech about him. I chose to do the the recipe. For my recipe I chose a dessert that is not only eaten in Cuba but is also eaten around the world. It is called Arroz con leche and consists of rice (arroz) and leche (milk) with cinnamon and other spices thrown in depending on what region of the world it comes from
When I made it I put three cups of rice and a full gallon of milk into a large pot and stirred it for close to three hours when it became thick and was ready to cool. Despite this being very challenging to stir for this long I managed to barely burn the pudding and it came out super tasty.
I learned more about Cuban cuisine and Cuban culture through this process. I am still struggling with speaking Spanish but I have much improved my lingiustic skills and am looking forward to continuing to improve them whether it is in or out of school.

Las Ramblas
For the las Ramblas project we first studied the preterit and imperfect ways to conjugate verbs. When using the preterit you are talking about things that have happened in the past on one occasion. When using the imperfect you"re talking about things in the past that have happened more than once. Once we were beginning to understand how these conjugations worked we were told to choose a person from Spanish culture to research and create a presentation on. For my presentation I chose to research Carlos Santana and his life. Once we had created this presentation we created minute long elevator pitches and rehearsed them along with pre-written questions in preparation for the Las Ramblas exhibition.
Looking back on this project, I learned a lot not only about Carlos Santana, the preterit and imperfect, but I learned a lot about speaking in Spanish and going off what I know to try and communicate what I am saying. Even if I didn't know exactly what to say completely in Spanish, I used the words I knew and did my best to stumble through sentences. I really was challenged by the preterit and imperfect ways to conjugate words correctly. It is very hard to remember each specific rule on conjugation, but with the help of the charts that Suzy keeps on the wall I have been able slowly to grow and understand conjugations. It was great to integrate my interest for music by researching Carlos Santana and finding a reason to connect to the work and give me ways to want to understand the Spanish through music.
Reflection
In this project we used the past tense to tell a story about our past. If we didn't have the past tense we wouldn't be able to tell stories about our history. We used the imperfect without even meaning to.
Un Dia en la Vida: Reflexive verb video
In this project we made a short video about the most interesting man in the world using reflexive verbs. My partner wrote a dialog and I wrote a song. It is a day in the life of Johnathan gold smith.

Porque Statement
Estudio espanolo porque quiero viajar Venezuela para trabajar en el mundo y por mi guitarra.
I want to learn another language so that I can learn and play news styles of music with different people that I wouldn't be able to talk with or play music with people of different race without another language. I want to be able to travel to places around the globe and go on adventures and speaking another language will help communicate the people I come in contact with. I enjoy understanding what’s going on around me and that may change if I know a new language.
