Personally I believe that this is a great topic to address. In the years since Geraldine Ferraro won the vice presidential nomination in 1984. We have seen women take more of an active role in the politics of the United States with Sarah Palin running as vice president in 2008 and now Hillary running for the 2016 Election, We have more and more women helping run the country. However as much as this gain is represented in the federal legislature there are still only 20 women in the senate out of 100 seats. It is amazing to me that people think that family roles and responsibilities play a big role into if a Woman decides to run for president.
It is much more a matter of if women run for office less because they feel like they don’t have as much of a chance as the men in the election might have. This just simply isn’t the case, in fact it is shown that when women have the same amount of funding and media support, Women will do virtually the same as other male candidates. If the amount of Women continues to increase that would be great. Women represent at least half of the nation and we must face it men and women interact with the world in very different ways and to keep balance we must have both parts of the equation.
